REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The South Korean government has declared that the ginseng country was free from the threat of MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome). Therefore, the Prime Minister of South Korea, Hwang Kyo-ahn asked people to remove their worry over the virus.

"The government asked people not to have to worry again and return to their normal routines because during the last 23 days the number of patients infected with MERS are stagnant in number 186, and the number of isolates was down to zero," said the Prime Minister of Korea, Hwang Kyo-ahn in a press release received by ROL, on Wednesday, July 29.

With more than 16 thousand people quarantined and 98 hospitals were fully or in part closed, this MERS outbreak was the most severe health challenges faced by South Korea. As recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) that the official announcement about Korea was free from MERS will be delivered by the end of next month, 28 days after the last patient test declared negative, i.e. twice the incubation period of MERS virus.

Hwang also apologized for the actions of the government in dealing with MERS and ensured that the government will continue to take the necessary measures and will increase the quarantine system against infectious diseases.
