REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON -- Vice Dean of the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology, University of Sofia, Galina Rouseva Sokolova said that the Indonesian language and culture class at the institute is very important and needs more support.

Sokolova expressed her admiration for the performance of the students at the closing ceremony of the Indonesian language and culture classes at the University of Sofia, a spokesperson for the Indonesian Embassy in Sofia Dina Mardiana remarked in a statement received by Antara here on Friday.

Sokolova believes that the class will get special attention from students.

The Indonesian language and culture class at the University of Sofia includes a beginner class with 16 students for the first year and an advanced class with 17 students for the second academic year.

Most students who enroll in the advanced class ask the university to offer the Indonesian language and culture class till their final year.

Moreover, Indonesian Ambassador to Bulgaria B. Saptomo has expressed his appreciation for the students who chose the Indonesian language and culture class as an elective in the Department of East, South and Southeast Asia of the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology of the university.

He was also grateful for the students' initiative of organizing an event featuring the arts and cultures of Indonesia.

In addition, the Indonesian Embassy is willing to provide a place in the embassy to students still interested in practicing angklung (a traditional musical instrument made of bamboo) and Indonesian traditional dances.
