Indonesian Parliament criticizes Aung San Suu Kyi

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Chairman of the House of Representative (DPR), Fahri Hamzah released loud protest about massive expulsion of ethnic Rohingya by the Vietnam government. The impact, at least thousands of Rohingyas stranded in Aceh.

Fahri requested that the status of Myanmar as a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN to be reviewed. Because, ethnic cleansing and expulsion of Rohingya in Myanmar showed the country was controlled by the military junta against the spirit of ASEAN.

"They never present in the discussion of this issue if they are invited," said Fahri in parliament building, on Friday, May 22.

Fahri also criticized the silence of Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been labelled as a fighter for human rights and democracy in the country. In fact, Aung San Suu Kyi is popular because she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

"Where is Aung San Suu Kyi? Did she fall asleep with the Nobel peace prize?" Fahri said through his Twitter account, @Fahrihamzah.
