REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Board of Trustees of the Advocacy Center of Law and Human Rights (PAHAM) Indonesia, Zainudin Paru said, until this day there are still thousands of ethnic Rohingya who were expelled from Myanmar and enter the territory of Malaysia and Indonesia.

As if these incident ignored from the observation of human rights and peace activists in Myanmar.

"In Myanmar, there is Aung San Suu Kyi, a democracy and human rights activist. She should not let this issue, moreover she have received Nobel peace," said Zainuddin, on Sunday, May 17.

According to him, as the Nobel Peace laureate, Suu Kyi has moral obligation to seek peace. "She should do humanitarian intervention and truly conflict resolution especially humanitarian crisis in front of her eyes and in the area of her power,"

Actually, Zainuddin explained, Suu Kyi has enough political and social capitals to address the issue of Rohingya. "Suu Kyi is a Member of Parliament and leader of the opposition; it is sufficient capital to implement the political vision of national reconciliation including addressing the issue of the Rohingya."

The absence of Suu Kyi's efforts to articulate the rights of ethnic Rohingya, he said, made the public questioning her credibility as Nobel Peace Prize laureates. "When Suu Kyi was silent, then she does not deserve the Nobel peace.. because she did not have a vision of peace and humanity."
