REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LJUBLJANA -- Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar accepted on Wednesday Education Minister Klavdija Markez's resignation after the woman minister was found to have committed plagiarism when doing her master's thesis.

In a brief public statement, Markez attributed her resignation to her "awareness of responsibility."

Markez (39) was successor of Stanka Setnikar Cankar, who stepped down due to a scandal that she received a large amount of extra income from public institutions on top of her regular salary as university professor and dean.

Markez was appointed minister of education, science and sport only on Friday, thus becoming one of the government ministers with the shortest term on record.

Former infrastructure minister Igor Maher resigned in 2013 only two days after his assignment.
