REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian House Speaker Setya Novanto has reminded all countries of the need to focus on the significance of the world parliament.

He said that countries must pay heed to the world parliament's contributions towards achieving the targets of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the post development 2015 agenda.

Addressing the 132nd General Assembly of the International Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Monday, Novanto stated that one of the priorities of Indonesia's SDGs was ocean and marine affairs to support the global maritime axis diplomacy initiated by President Joko Widodo.

During the session, the house speaker also invited Asian and African delegations to attend the Parliamentarian Event, which is scheduled to be held in Jakarta on April 23 to mark the 60th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference in Indonesia.

The IPU session was attended by 166 world parliamentarians.
