REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JERUSALEM -- The EU Missions in Jerusalem and Ramallah expressed concern over the Israeli five-month deportation orders served on five Jerusalemites, said an EU press statement on Friday.

"These orders risk inflaming an already tense situation in Jerusalem," stated the statement.

Israel ordered the expulsion of five Palestinians from Jerusalem for a period of five months starting on November 30, three of whom are former political prisoners identified as Daoud al-Ghoul, Majd Darwish, and Saleh Dirbas, all in their early twenties. No reason was given for the order.

Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva convention stipulates that Irrespective of its reasons, The occupying power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own population into the territories it occupies.'

Meanwhile, Article 8 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court stipulates that ?the deportation or transfer of all or parts of the population of the occupied territory within or outside this territory is a war crime.
