REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, AMMAN -- The staff and management of an Amman restaurant were surprised to see the Royal family entering the eatery on Saturday.

Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania, along with Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Hussein, Princess Iman and Princess Salma, went for lunch at the Great Amman Restaurant, located between the 7th and 8th circles.

“We were surprised by the Royal visit and it was a moment of joy for everyone in the restaurant, including staff and customers,” Mohammad Yasin, the restaurant’s director, told The Jordan Times over the phone.

He said the King shook hands with all the employees, and customers rushed to take pictures with him and the Royal family.

It was the first time that the King and his family visited the restaurant, Yasin said, adding that they ordered grills, salads and hummus, among other popular national dishes.

The photos of the lunch were posted on Queen Rania’s Facebook page.

“Out with the #family for #lunch, nothing like grills and a good plate of humus,” the Queen wrote on her page (https://www.facebook.com/QueenRania).

Pictures of the Royal lunch posted on the Facebook page of The Jordan Times attracted many comments.

“A very modest family,” commented Nabila Attieh.

Another reader, Zeena Arbad, wrote: “much love”.

On Her Majesty’s Facebook page, the photos had attracted 3,490 likes by 6pm on Saturday.

“May God protect you,” commented Nasser Abu Omar.

“Bless your hearts, all traditional food is so delicious,” Ibraheem Ahmed Mostafa commented on the Queen’s page.
